Vikings drop third straight

By:
Gary Mayberry drove in the go-ahead run to give the DuPage County Hounds (9-8) the lead in the sixth inning as they hung on to beat the Southland Vikings (5-9) 4-2.

After Charles Gould doubled to start the inning, Mayberry came to the plate with one out and doubled, bringing home Gould who led the County Hounds offensively, going 3 for 4 with one run and one RBI.

However, Jordan Chudacoff was of the star of the game, going seven innings with two earned runs, five hits, six walks and seven strikeouts.

The Vikings had the lead twice thanks to two sacrifice flies, one from Elliott Armstrong and another from Joey Migliaccio. Damon Saunders may have had his breakout game as he went 2 for 3 with one run. Both of his hits were double.

Brandon Duplessis (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed only four earned runs. Charlie Naso also pitched and went two innings with two strikeouts.

The Vikings will look to end their three-game losing streak when they take on the Northwest Indiana Oilmen Friday night. So far they are 0-4 against the Oilmen.
