By:
The Will County CrackerJacks (7-5) used three home runs on offense as well as 19 groundouts on defense to beat the Southland Vikings (5-7).

Starting from the first inning, the CrackerJacks were in control as Michael Vilardo’s 3-run home run gave them the early lead. After scoring three more in the second, the CrackerJacks maintained a 6-0 lead for most of the game.

Michael Oczypok was the star of the game as he went seven scoreless innings, allowing only six hits while striking out four and receiving the win. In fact, only three Vikings recorded a hit against the CrackerJacks. Elliott Armstrong went 4 for 5, Joey Migliaccio went 2 for 3 and Chris Stevens went 2 for 4.

While Jim Tucker picked up the loss, Charlie Naso came in for 3.2 innings, giving up one hit and one earned run with three strikeouts.

After scoring two more in the eighth inning, the CrackerJacks scored 10 runs in the final inning to pull away with an 18-0 win. They had a very balanced attack as nine batters recorded an RBI for the team.

The Vikings will look to bounce back Tuesday night at 7:05 as they head to DeKalb to take on the County Liners.
