Flossmoor comeback ties series at one

By:
Homewood had the early lead but the Flossmoor 8th Grade All Stars used aggressive baserunning as well as took advantage of fielding errors for a 16-7 victory.

Down 1-0 in the second inning, the Homewood 8th Grade All Stars scored six runs thanks to the bats of players like Zach Thompson and Bryce Gray who drove in a combined three runs in the inning. After two and a half innings, Homewood led 7-1.

After cutting the lead to three runs, Flossmoor had a monster fifth inning as they drove in eight runs to take a 12-7 lead en route to a 16-7 win. Homewood’s eight errors were the major difference in the game as most happened in the fifth and six innings. As Flossmoor kept getting runners on base, they also kept them active which helped them score more runs.

Flossmoor had a very balanced offensive attack, getting major production from players like Bernie Coderre, Brendan Crawford and Donovan Friel. Friel was also the winning pitcher.

The series finale will be Sunday at 7 o’clock.
