By:
Both teams battled back and forth but the Homewood 8th Grade All Stars ultimately pulled out the first game of the weekend series, 7-6 over the Flossmoor 8th Grade All Stars.

Homewood scored early as Zach Thompson drove in three runs in the first three innings to give his team a 3-0 lead. But Flossmoor would tie it up in the top of the fourth, as there were several lead changes throughout the final innings.

Down 6-5 in the top of the seventh, Flossmoor tied it on a pass ball that scored Alan Williams. In the bottom half of the inning, Homewood had the bases loaded thanks to two walks and one hit batsmen. With one out, Cory Bevil hit a groundball that ultimately allowed Thompson to score from the third and gave his team the victory.

Thompson led the way for the Homewood 8th Grade All Stars as he went 2-3 with three RBIs and was also the winning pitcher. Leading the way for Flossmoor was Christopher Sanchez who had two RBIs. The series continues on Saturday at 7:10 p.m.
