Vikings Announce 2022 Position Players

Hammond, Ind. – May 21, 2022 – The Viking bats are Here.  



The Southland Vikings continue to announce their 2022 roster, finishing with the position players on the team.  



Logan Anderson INF Marshall University – Anderson returns to the Vikings, but this year Anderson represents Marshall University, a Division I school in West Virginia. Anderson appeared in seven games in his first season with the Thundering Herd, collecting four hits and one RBI, and did not commit an error on the defensive side of the ball. In 22 games with the Vikings last year, Anderson batted .229 with eight RBIs. 



George Belieki OF/LHP Lewis University – Belieki enters his first year with the Vikings as a two-way player as both an outfielder and as a left-handed pitcher. Committed to attending Lewis University in the fall, Belieki attends Marist High School in Chicago. Over his last two seasons of high school baseball, Belieki batted for an average of .311 with 28 runs batted in and 10 doubles in 66 games played. 



Blaze Cano SS Purdue Northwest University – Cano enters his first year with the Vikings. Cano just completed his freshman season at Purdue Northwest, a Division II school in Northwest Indiana. With the Pride this season, Cano appeared in 10 games collecting three hits and a walk plus one RBI. Cano attended Hanover Central High School, which is located in Cedar Lake, Ind..



Jason Cousineau OF College of DuPage – Cousineau is an outfielder and enters his first year with the Vikings. Cousineau just completed his freshman season with the College of DuPage, an NJCAA school. In 2022 with the Chaparrals, Cousineau batted for an average of .250, knocking in six runs to go along with six walks. At Glenbard East High School (Illinois) Cousineau ended his high school career with a bang, batting .485 with 33 hits, 11 of them being doubles and four being home runs with 31 runs batted in. This performance led him to be named the Upstate Eight Player of the Year. 



Jon Crowell C/1B Flagler College – Crowell returns for another season with the Vikings. Last season with Southland, Crowell batted for an average of .317 with six runs batted in and a home run. This past season at Flagler, Crowell played in just three games but made an impact on the defensive side of the ball, recording nine putouts without committing an error. 



Nick Daugherty OF Mayville State University – Entering his first season with the Vikings. 



Patrick Doran 1B Saint Xavier University – Doran returns for another season with the Vikings after a strong 2021 campaign with the franchise. Doran was named to the All-Midwest Collegiate League team last summer after leading the Vikings in hits (32), RBIs (24), home runs (3), and extra-base hits (10) while posting an average of .327 and an on-base percentage of .431. In 2022 with Saint Xavier, Doran batted .354 which was good for 5th on the team while knocking in 57 runs, good for second on Saint Xavier. 



Kyle Fenner OF College of Dupage – Fenner is an outfielder in his first year with the Vikings and is a teammate at Dupage with fellow Viking outfielder Jason Cousineau. Fenner appeared in 36 games as a freshman for the Chaparrals, posting a .285 average with 23 RBIs and 3 home runs. Fenner was a multi-sport athlete when he attended Downers Grove South High School and was an all-conference selection in baseball, basketball, and soccer. 



Nick Fies 3B Saint Xavier University – Fies enters his first year with the Vikings and plays college ball with fellow Viking Patrick Doran. With Saint Xavier in 2022, Fies had 10 at-bats in 13 games played with one hit, two RBIs and three walks. 



Jason Krol C/OF Lewis University – Back for a second consecutive season with the Vikings, in 2021 with the Vikings, he collected nine hits with six walks and a run batted in. Krol looks to build off his 2022 campaign with Lewis where he batted .360 with 15 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .409. Krol attended St. Laurence High School in Chicago, Illinois. 



Max Malley C/OF Evansville University – Malley enters his first season with the Vikings after playing Division I baseball at Evansville University in 2022. Malley made 19 at-bats collecting 3 hits, with 2 RBIs, and 3 walks while committing zero errors in the field. 



Christopher McDevitt C/1B Indiana State University – McDevitt enters his second season with the Vikings as a catcher out of Indiana State University, a Division I school in Terre Haute, Ind. With the Vikings in 2021, McDevitt batted .300 with 21 RBIs, which was good for third on the team. McDevitt tacked on seven extra-base hits in addition to his .378 on-base percentage.  



Zach McKenna OF Mount St. Joseph University – McKenna is an outfielder who attends Mount St. Joseph, a Division III school in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2022 with the Lions, McKenna batted for an average of .320, good for third on the roster, while delivering 18 runs batted in with 11 extra-base hits in 30 games played. 



Sean Moore OF/LHP Calumet College of Saint Joseph – Moore is a two-way player entering his first season with the Vikings. Moore made appearances both in the outfield and on the mound for the Crimson Wave in 2022. At the dish, Moore batted for an average of .307 with 46 hits and 18 runs batted in. While on the bump, Moore toed the slab 10 times in 2022, striking out 19 batters in 23 1/3 innings pitched. 



Nick Noles 3B/P Prairie State College – Noles enters his first season with the Vikings and is a third baseman and pitcher from Prairie State College, an NJCAA program in Chicago Heights. Noles recently completed his freshman year at the school and calls Beecher, Illinois his hometown. 



Beau Polickey INF Heartland Community College – Polickey enters his first season with the Vikings. He is committed to playing baseball at Heartland Community College in Normal, Illinois. Polickey is wrapping up his senior season at Brother Rice High School in Chicago where throughout his career, he’s batted .323 with eight RBIs and a home run. 



Armani Sanchez INF Prairie State College – Sanchez enters his first season with the Vikings. He is a freshman at Prairie State College, an NJCAA program in Chicago Heights. Sanchez is from St. John, Ind., and attended Lake Central High School. 



Luke Sefcik SS Central Michigan University – Sefcik returns for his second consecutive season. He is wrapping up his freshman season with Central Michigan University, a Division I school in Mount Pleasant, Mich. Sefcik looks to build off his all-star season in 2021 where he batted .333 a season ago which was good for fourth on the team while collecting 22 RBIs and a home run. 



Jose Solis INF Saint Xavier University – Solis enters his first season with the Vikings. He was redshirted this past season at Saint Xavier University, an NAIA school. Solis attended Hope Academy and calls Melrose Park, Ill., his hometown. 



A.J. Taylor 2B College of DuPage – Taylor enters his first season with the Vikings. The infielder plays baseball at the College of DuPage and had a strong freshman campaign. He batted .397 in 141 at-bats with 5 home runs and 34 runs batted in. Taylor was named all-conference his senior season at Downers Grove South High School in Illinois and earned his team’s Gold Glove that same season. 



Julio Trevino INF Morton College – Trevino is an infielder from Morton College in Cicero, Ill. This season at Morton, Trevino was second on his team in both batting average (.403) and RBIs (42), and his on-base percentage of .525 placed him third on the roster. 



Tom Vernan OF Olivet – Enters his first season with the Vikings.
