Vikings Send Four to MCL All-Star Game

Hammond, Ind. - July 13, 2021 - The Midwest Collegiate League has announced rosters for its annual midsummer All-Star Game, which will take place on Tuesday, July 20 at 7:10 p.m. at Oil City Stadium. The Vikings will send four players, two pitchers and two position players.

 Jake Paymaster (Triton / New Lenox, Ill.) the two time MCL Pitcher of the Week is one of the two pitchers named to the all-star team. In 28 innings, Paymaster has given up six earned runs, 26 strikeouts, 51 swings and misses, 1.91 ERA, and holding hitters to a .220 batting average. In his last 20 innings, he has only given up one earned run and 20 strikeouts.

 Nolan Vlcek (Marshalltown CC / Lockport, Ill.) is the second pitcher for the Vikings. The strikeout machine has been dominant on the mound all season. In 25 innings, he’s given up four earned runs, 39 strikeouts, 71 swings and misses, holding hitters to a .184 batting average, and has tallied six plus strikeouts in all five appearances.  

 Patrick Doran (North Carolina Central / Evergreen Park, Ill.) is one of the two Vikings position players selected to the all-star team. Doran leads the team in most offensive categories, totalling in 18 games, 19 hits, two triples, one home run, 16 RBI’s, 10 runs, 10 walks, .322 batting average and .420 OBP. 

 Luke Sefcik (Central Michigan / Palos Heights, Ill.) makes the all-star game after 10 games with the Southland Vikings. The infielder recorded 11 hits, two doubles, four RBIS, seven runs, eight walks, and one strikeout in 31 at-bats. An impressive .355 batting average, .475 OBP, and three multi hit games. 

 The game will be carried on the Oilmen Broadcasting Network, available via JED-TV and AM 1230 WJOB. The radio broadcast is available free of charge on the WJOB app and over the air on AM 1230 Hammond. Brandon Vickrey (NWI Oilmen) and Jon Zaghloul (Crestwood Panthers) will have the call for the All-Star Game.
