Joliet Admirals outlast the Southland Vikings in high-scoring affair, 12-8

Scoreboard operators were busy at Wayne L. King Field on Wednesday as Joliet Admirals and the Southland Vikings combined for 20 runs. Joliet Admirals eventually won the offensive battle 12-8.


The teams totaled 19 hits, including seven extra base hits in the game.


Jimmy Roche racked up two RBIs on two hits for Joliet Admirals. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.

Aaron Fuller racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Southland Vikings. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings and doubled in the ninth inning.

Tom Jeffries recorded the win for Joliet Admirals. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked four and surrendered six hits.

Robbie Nunn was charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in four innings, walked two and struck out none.
The bottom of the first saw Joliet Admirals take an early lead, 2-0. A single by Roche, bringing home Brendan Brundage started the inning off.

Joliet Admirals added more runs when Roche scored on a groundout by Ryan Schefske.

The lead stayed with Joliet Admirals after the fourth, when it scored five runs on an error, a sacrifice fly by Roche, an RBI single by Satchel Daleo, and a two-run triple by Brendan Krob.

Two runs in the top of the fifth helped the Southland Vikings close their deficit to 7-4. A two-run single by Fuller sparked the Southland Vikings'rally. But, Tom Jeffries got Hunter Thorn to ground out to end the inning.

Joliet Admirals brought home two runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the seventh. In the sixth, Joliet Admirals scored on a two-run single by Jordan Miller, plating Brendan Krob and Brendan Brundage.

The Southland Vikings scored two runs in the top of the seventh to cut their deficit to four. A groundout by Fuller and an RBI single by Thorn fueled the Southland Vikings' comeback. The Southland Vikings threat came to an end when Joe Davi finally got Austin Lorenz to strike out.

After a quick strike from the Southland Vikings, Joliet Admirals responded with two runs in the seventh. Joliet Admirals scored on an RBI double by Jackson Dvorak and.

Two runs in the top of the ninth helped the Southland Vikings close their deficit to 12-8. An RBI double by Fuller and triggered the Southland Vikings' comeback. But, Rich Bryza got Austin Lorenz to strike out to end the game.
