By:
The Rockford Foresters (6-15) jumped out to an early lead on the Southland Vikings (8-11) and captured a 9-1 victory on Wednesday at Marinelli Field.

Seven runs in the first three innings allowed the Foresters to put the game away early. Noah Anderson (0-1) allowed six earned runs in 1.1 innings while the Vikings committed four errors in the game. The Foresters had 12 hits with all but one batter registering a base hit.

Cody Steed racked up seven strikeouts in his win. He allowed one earned run on six hits and four walks over eight innings.

Despite the loss, the Vikings' Jim Tucker dominated the Foresters' batters, giving up one earned run and striking out five in 5.2 innings of work. Offensively, the Vikings had six hits with Elliott Armstrong going 2 for 3 with one run scored. Chris Stevens also had a solid game as he went 2 for 3 as well. Their only RBI came from Shane Brown in the fifth inning.

The Vikings will look to bounce back on Thursday when they head to Benedictine Stadium to take on the DuPage County Hounds.
