An excellent effort by Drew Provence lifted the DeKalb County Liners (11-4) to an 8-0 win over the Southland Vikings (5-8) on Tuesday at Founders Field.
Provence's 11 strikeouts were enough to push the Liners past the Vikings as he tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only three hits.
The Liners had 11 hits but only three extra base hits. They took advantage of six Vikings' errors with only four players registering an RBI. Leading the way was Cody Simon who went 2 for 4 with one run and two RBIs.
Harry Doherty (1-1) took the loss for the Vikings. He only allowed one earned run in five innings, walked three and struck out four.
The Vikings will have Wednesday off before taking on the DuPage County Hounds on Thursday.
