The Southland Vikings (8-10) used 18 hits as well as strong pitching from Harry Doherty to dominate the Chicago Zephyrs (5-15) and win their second game in a row.

Elliott Armstrong started off the game with a triple and the Vikings never looked back. Joey Migliaccio knocked him in and the team was up 1-0 after the first inning. In the second, Migliaccio broke the game open with a grand slam as the Vikings scored in six of the nine innings.

While the offense was very balanced with seven players recording an RBI, a few players really stood out. Migliaccio went 3 for 7 with two runs scored and five RBIs. Armstrong finished a home run away from hitting for the cycle as he went 5 for 7 with three runs and two RBIs. Lastly, Dan Potempa finished going 3 for 4 with two runs and one RBI.

The Vikings also got a strong performance from starting pitcher Harry Doherty who went six innings, allowing four hits and zero earned runs while striking out three. Tyler Willis pitched the last three innings, giving up only one hit and striking out two.

On Wednesday, the Vikings will travel to Rockford to take on the Foresters who they are 2-0 against this season.
