The Southland Vikings defeat Northwest Indiana Oilmen 8-5

Hunter Thorn collected four hits, helping the Southland Vikings to an 8-5 victory over Northwest Indiana Oilmen on Thursday at Oil City Stadium. Phil Madvek got the win for the Southland Vikings. He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered nine hits.

Christian Howell was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked six, struck out four, and allowed five runs

The game was never in doubt after the first, as the Southland Vikings scored three runs on two singles

Northwest Indiana Oilmen scored two runs in the first inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the first, Northwest Indiana Oilmen scored on a sacrifice fly by Stefano Belmonte, bringing home Tyler Sroczynski.

The Southland Vikings added two more runs in the top of the second. A ground out scored Amir Wright for the inning's first run.

The Southland Vikings increased their lead with three runs in the ninth. A single by Austin Lorenz ignited the offense,. That was followed up by Aaron Fuller's single, plating Thorn.
