Vikings top Joliet

The Southland Vikings took the last of seven lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Joliet Admirals , securing a 7-4 victory on Friday at Wayne L. King Jr. Field.

The Southland Vikings took the lead in the eighth inning and held on for the victory. The Southland Vikings scored on an RBI single by Jake Hickey off Chris Hawkes, bringing home Chris Stevens.

Brian Henry pitched lights out for the Southland Vikings . Henry held Joliet Admirals hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

It was a good day at the plate for Joliet Admirals 's Micah Coffey. Coffey went 3-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first, seventh, and ninth innings.

The top of the first saw the Southland Vikings take an early lead, 1-0.

It didn't take long for Joliet Admirals to answer as it scored two runs of its own in the first. Joliet Admirals scored on an RBI double by Ryan Hutchinson and a passed ball.
